The Bar Professional Training Course is the qualification required by those wishing to enter the legal profession as a barrister. Students on the BPTC at Manchester Metropolitan University benefit from a wealth of opportunities, facilities and support. Manchester is the second largest legal centre in the country so our students are well-placed to interact with the legal profession and with practitioners of legal skills in other sectors of employment. The BPTC at MMU is a one-year full-time or two year part-time course, with a strong emphasis on highly interactive small group work which takes place in 'chambers' groups. It combines rigorous academic standards with practical application. The teaching staff are all qualified barristers.
